Visiting large cities in America in an RV can be challenging. Unfortunately, there aren’t many large cities that have RV parks. Therefore, you must camp outside the city limits and drive back and forth. However, Charlotte, North Carolina, is one of the exceptions. Carowinds Camp Wilderness Resort is 12 miles from downtown Charlotte. Or, as the locals call it, uptown.
Carowinds Camp Wilderness sits right in an urban industrial park. However, once you enter the RV park, you are surrounded by trees and the outdoors. If you were unaware of where you were, you wouldn’t know you were in a large city.
Of course, the biggest attraction at Carowinds Camp Wilderness Resort is the Carowinds roller coaster park. With over 60 thrill rides, family rides, and roller coasters, you can not be bored! Access to Carolina Harbor, the largest water park in the Carolinas, is included with admission, featuring extreme water slides, wave pools, cabanas, and a three-acre children’s area.
