Holiday Trav-L-Park Campground Location

Located just 1.5 miles from the famed Virginia Beach oceanfront the park offers 1000 campsites – approx. 300 full hook-ups, 400 water and electricity, 250 tent sites, and 34 cabins.

This great park offers a ton of great amenities including four different swimming pools. The park is large enough that you could spend all your time within the park itself and never run out of things to do. However, if you are staying to visit the local area there is plenty to do nearby for the entire family.

Recommended Places to Visit in the Area

• Virginia Beach Boardwalk and bike path is a three-mile concrete esplanade stretching along the oceanfront from Rudee Inlet to 40th Street. There is also an adjacent bike path to accommodate bicycles,  Ramps for handicapped accessibility lead from the boardwalk to the beach and extend to the water’s edge at certain points. There are plenty of restaurants, and stores to visit along the Boardwalk. Of course, you could also sit on the beach and enjoy the sun, and ocean.
• Virginia Beach Pier is open 24 hours a day from Memorial Day through mid-October and is a popular spot for fishing and crabbing. There are tackle, bait, rod rentals, and ice for sale in season. In addition, fishing from the pier is allowed for a small fee.
• Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center offers so many things to see and experience. Nature paths wind their way through a variety of habitats, hands-on exhibits offer unforgettable fun, and the 800,000-gallon aquarium with over 300 species of aquatic animals is amazing. In addition, the aquarium offers boat trips, special exhibits, and a zip-line adventure park.
• Atlantic Fun Park located on the boardwalk has rides, a midway, and the biggest Ferris wheel on Virginia Beach, offering a fabulous view of the surrounding area. This park is open seasonally.
• Sunbath and swimming in Virginia Beach. The beach offers an amazing 35 miles of coastline waiting to be explored. There are numerous public bathrooms, and food establishments all along the beachfront. This makes a day at the beach a bit easier for families.
•  Virginia Beach Surf & Rescue Museum is dedicated to the preservation of Virginia Beach’s maritime heritage, historically showcasing statewide Oceanfront communities, and honoring the coast guards.

Holiday Trav-L-Park Campground Review 

The Holiday Trav-L-Park Campground is more than just an RV park, it’s an experience. With four swimming pools, 18-hole mini-golf, and over 700 campsites it offers a resort-like camping experience. In addition, it is only 3 miles away from the Naval Air Station Oceana. NAS Oceana is home to a large number of naval air groups. Therefore, there are daily flyovers of the park showcasing naval air power.

With over 700 sites this park is huge. We walked around the park every day and still didn’t cover the entire park.

There are four large pools spread throughout the park. Although the park is big we were able to find a spot at a pool every day we were there.

Of course, a great benefit of this park is its proximity to the beach and all that it has to offer.

For beach goers, the campground has a designated parking lot within walking distance of the beach. If you are like us and don’t tow a car, there are additional options to get to the boardwalk and beach. These options include a trolley stop within the park, a paved bike path from the bike path to the boardwalk, and public transportation. We opted to use Uber and were able to be on the beach within a half-hour of calling for a ride.

This large park has something for everyone. Therefore, it is a great RV destination for families. If planning on visiting the Virginia Beach area we highly recommend making reservations at the Holiday Trav-L-Park Campground.

Our Experience at the Holiday Trav-L-Park Campground

We stayed at the Holiday Trav-L-Park Campground for three nights during spring break.

The staff was terrific, and the other families around us were great. We used Uber to get back and forth from the park to Virginia Beach and had no problems. It is a quick trip down to the boardwalk and well worth it.

This was an excellent place for our family to camp and enjoy the area. In addition, we got daily Naval jet flyovers from the nearby Navy air base.
