Returning to RV travel after kids grow up is something we talked about for years, but the timing had to be right.
There was a time when the road felt like a constant in our lives. Weekends meant planning the next trip. Summers were measured in campground stays, not calendars. Packing up and heading out became second nature.
Then, without much notice, we stepped away.

Why We Took Time Off
Like many families, our lives began to shift.
The kids weren’t just getting older—they were building their own lives. High school became graduation. Graduation became college. What used to be shared schedules slowly turned into independent ones.
The house got quieter.
Trips became harder to plan. Not because we didn’t want to travel, but because life entered a new phase. Instead of planning trips, we focused on supporting them as they stepped into their future.
We wanted to be present for it all.
There’s a season when the road pulls you forward. Then there’s a season when life asks you to stay. For us, this was that time. It was about the last games, the graduations, and the move-in days.
So, the RV stayed parked more than it moved.
And Cape RV Travelers… went quiet.
What We Never Lost
Even while we weren’t traveling, something stayed with us.
We still noticed campgrounds as we drove by. We still talked about trips every summer. That feeling never disappeared.
Because once you start RV travel, it becomes part of you.
It doesn’t go away—it waits.

What Cape RV Travelers Will Be Now
When we started Cape RV Travelers, it was about documenting where we went.
Now, it’s about something more.
It’s about sharing what we’ve learned—what matters, what doesn’t, and what we’d do differently after years of experience. It’s about continuing the journey with a new perspective, while still holding onto the parts that made us fall in love with RV travel in the first place.
One of those goals hasn’t changed. We’re still committed to seeing all of the national parks—a goal that has been part of our travels from the beginning and will continue to guide where we go next.
RV camping with kids will always be an important part of this website. That’s where this all started, and those experiences still matter. But moving forward, Cape RV Travelers will become much more.
It will be about:
- Traveling in a new season of life
- Slowing down and appreciating the journey
- Revisiting places with a different perspective
- Exploring new destinations with more flexibility
- Sharing lessons learned from years on the road
You can still expect:
- Honest campground reviews
- Real travel days (not just the highlight reel)
- Practical tips and advice
- And the moments that make this lifestyle worth it
This won’t be about perfect trips.
It will be about real ones.

First Stop – Cherry Hill

It feels fitting that our first trip back is one that brings us somewhere familiar.
We’ll be heading to Cherry Hill Park—a place that has always been one of our favorites, and the very first campground we ever stayed at.
There’s something special about returning to where it all started. After time away from the road, it feels right to begin again in the same place that first introduced us to this lifestyle.
It’s a reminder of where we’ve been—and a starting point for where we’re going next.
A New Chapter Begins

We didn’t plan the break.
And we didn’t rush coming back.
But now that we’re here, it feels right.
Returning to RV travel after kids grow up marks a new chapter for us—one shaped by experience, perspective, and a renewed appreciation for the road.
We’re excited to be back.
